Functional therapy and splints
Our temporomandibular joint is often affected when we are under a lot of personal pressure and grind or clench, especially at night.
With the help of the right diagnostics, customized splints and interdisciplinary cooperation with both physiotherapists and osteopaths, relief can be provided.
When is functional therapy helpful?
Depending on the symptoms, physiotherapeutic or ostheopathic treatment together with a splint that is worn at night can be useful. If the teeth are badly worn, this is sometimes not sufficient and the missing tooth length is then functionally and aesthetically restored in order to permanently eliminate the symptoms.
Which rail is helpful?
We manufacture milled splints for patients, tailored to their individual symptoms, which are produced in a master laboratory. The basis for this can be conventional impressions or data records obtained by intraoral scanning.
It is essential to check the splint and the “grinding tracks” after 2 – 4 weeks of wearing and then regularly at your six-monthly dentist visit in order to achieve lasting success.
